In what promises to be a wonderfully rousing production, the Third through Fifth Graders of Renaissance School and the Sixth through Eighth Grade students of Endeavour Middle School are joining together, under the direction of Nikki Juvan, to present “The Music Man, Jr.” The student version of this beloved musical is the perfect blend of story, music, costumes and scenery, and is a great family-friendly evening of live theater suitable for all ages. The show will run about an hour and fifteen minutes.
It has been so much fun hearing the students rehearsing the lively music during their music and drama classes over the course of the past few weeks, and their progress has been remarkable. The fact that nearly all of the rehearsal time has been conducted through the regularly scheduled 40 minute music and drama classes is amazing for a show of this magnitude. Most schools will conduct after-school rehearsals for at least two hours a day, four to five days a week in preparation for their musical productions, so we thank Nikki and the children for all of their focus and hard work during their limited time together.
The Renaissance students have been working on props, scenery and costume pieces during their weekly art classes with Laura, (as well as with Nicole, the Endeavour art teacher); we thank Caroline for her wonderful work in gathering and sewing many of the costume pieces for the production. We are very excited to see everything pull together and are so proud of everyone involved in this show. We hope that you and your family will plan to join us for this classical piece of musical theatre.
